I have had this issue both in IE 8 and IE 9 where the 32 bit Internet Explorer just hangs. I did a rebuild of the system but this did not fix the issue. The 64 bit Internet Explorer works fine.

I have just notice the following error and I have replicated twice. In the Administrative Event the following event gave this:

The program IEXPLORE.EXE version 9.0.8112.16421 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

I have given up trying to fix this issue and did a rebuild yesterday. My gut feeling is that it was a corrupt norton toolbar and Norton Internet Security 2012. So with this rebuild I did not load Norton Internet Security 2012 but instead I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials to see if the Internet Explorer 32 bit remains stable. So far all good. The other thing I did was not to load was Google Toolbar. I will try this in a day or two. So I will leave this open for a while.

Thanks for the suggections.
