EEK! DNS Error in IE 7

- Running XP with IE 7.
- Was working fine for long time but, now getting DNS error when browsing
- Can go directly to Google etc via IP
- CAN use nslookup on the PC to resolve name and that works fine
- Other computers on home network work fine
- Have done complete spyware and virus checking
- Have done "ipconfig /flushdns"
- Searched like crazy on the web and haven't found this specific problem.
- Please don't tell me to download another browser
- Is there a DLL that is responsible that I could replace or re-register?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to TSF

Please try this:

Click Start =>Run, type in CMD, press OK.

Copy and paste this into the Command prompt:

Then copy and paste this in:

netsh int ip reset reset.log

Re: DNS Error in IE 7

Your welcome, glad it worked for you.

I am a man

Quote:
netsh winsock reset catalog

This command resets the Winsock catalog to the default configuration. This can be useful if a malformed LSP is installed that results in loss of network connectivity. While use of this command can restore network connectivity, it should be used with care because any previously-installed LSPs will need to be re-installed.
netsh int ip reset reset.log, this one will reset th TCP/IP stack to installation defaults.

Hate to bring up such an old post but I am having virtually the same issue. I have tried the above solution, did not work for me.

I am unable to use Internet Explorer to browse the internet. It seems to be a DNS issue as I can manually type in google's IP address and the site loads fine. Not to mention I can use firefox 3 without any issues.

I have tired all listed solutions on this page with no avail.

Please help!
