Want to start my own forum
Hi all,
Well I want to start my own forum, the ones that I have to pay for, not the free ones. Anyone recommend any cheap ones?
I heard that some forums come as a web hosting package is this true? and are they good?
Please give me the information I need to start off because im new to this but i've created free forums before that already has a domain name but now I want to start off making a more professional one with my own domain name.
Please advise,
Much appriciated!
Thanks!

Re: Want to start my own forum
This site uses vBulletin, but it's not exactly cheap.
What forum system have you used in the past? Usually you can make them look good with a bit of tinkering.

Re: Want to start my own forum
vBulletin is the best out there and isn't terribly priced, but you said cheap...
phpBB is free but in my opinion it's quite a nice forum.
Those are the top two, by far.

Re: Want to start my own forum
If you're looking for a forum I'd suggest word-press. It's free, but it's as as good as they come as far as I've seen.
Why do you want to pay? There are so many free options out there that are as good, if not better, than paid options.

Re: Want to start my own forum
ipb or vbulletin looks abit too expensive for me.. anyone know if i would need to host these seperately?
http://www.inmotionhosting.com/hostingplans.html
anyone know if this is any good?
Power - $8.95/mo $7.95/mo - Top Choice for Small Business
might go for this, looks good..
comes with 1 free domain, does anyone know if it can be transferable? and how long is the domain for?
i could then use phpbb for free..
thanks

Thanks for the kind offer to help those who are interested in setting this option up. That should be helpful, but please follow the forum guideline.
Forum rules state that all assistance remain on the forum, so PM assistance is not an option for assistance. General discussions are appropriate via PM, but help and setup assistance must remain on the open forum.

Re: Want to start my own forum
You should always install the latest version of phpBB as to keep up with the latest bug and exploit fixes.

Re: Want to start my own forum
The only forum worth paying for is vBulletin. Don't bother with others, trust me.
If you want a free forum, I recommend myBB if you like customizing it or phpBB if you don't mind it's lack of flexibility.
