You asked this question on the Windows 10 section of this forum but the OS listed on your profile is Windows 7. Does your computer have Windows 10 or Windows 7?
What did the SFC /scannow say? Did it say it could not fix all files?
Press the Windows key + X choose Command Prompt (Admin)
At the Elevated Command Prompt type or copy and paste Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth then press enter. After that is done type or paste Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then press enter. After that is done, Restart the computer, then run SFC /scannow from an Elevated Command Prompt as shown
Hi, do you receive any error messages relating to this? If so what are they.
Disable your AV (if you use anything other then windows defender)
Go to search and type:- command prompt, right click on the returned command prompt and select "run as administrator" an elevated cmd prompt will open, type the following cmds pressing enter after each one.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Restart computer and try updates now. There are some possible reg mod's needed, we will see how you go.
