With only the WD Elements drive with the problem , plugged in as an external drive, and not other drives. Put your ear on it, does is sound like it is spinning up? or is it cold no sound? If the later, it has failed. If the former,
Press the Windows key +X choose Disk Management. In the Disk Management window, in the lower pane, is your WD external showing? Does it say the file system is Unallocated Space? or that it is Not Initialized?
In either case the "table of contents" for the drive has been lost. You can try to recover the files on the drive by using the Free TestDisk program. I have had the best luck with GetDataBack. You will need another drive of the same size or larger to restore your files to.
You don't have to listen, just follow the other instructions.
If the drive is not showing up in Disk Management, then it more then likely has failed. Try it on another computer.
