Windows 10 Dell laptop sluggish, bogged

Hi Again, long time no see...

I've had this Dell laptop for about a year and it's just in recent days started running very sluggish, glitching and stuttering... like it's stuck processing 20 things at once...

I had a look at the startup menu, saw that chrome and opera were using alot of memory so I disabled chrome. Opera is still using a great deal of memory. I'm doubting that's the issue though, because I've been using chrome and opera for some time and as I said the real bogginess has only been quite recent. Although... I did switch to Opera a few weeks ago because chrome was acting very slow and sluggish, but now Opera is doing the same thing...

It's not just the browsers that are sluggish, everything is sluggish and at times the mouse stutters and glitches as it moves across the screen.

All in all it's just running crappy and very frustrating. Help much appreciated!

Corday, after posting I did some cleaning up of my startup programs, disabling some that didn't seem necessary -- restarted the laptop and now it seems to be OK again...

I'll see how it goes for the next day, but if it does bog down again, which option of memtest should I download "image for creating bootable CD" or "image for creating bootable USB drive"?

Thanks very much for your help!

Does your laptop have a CD/DVD burner? If no, then you would need to use the USB option. If it does, then the choice is up to you. Either burn a CD, or create the USB version.
