I have some jpg's from 2009 that I'm trying to open. No software will open them.
I may have encrypted them. I use a different laptop now though so I don't know which program I would have used to encrypt them and can't simply decrypt them with that program. Is there a way to know for sure whether encryption is my problem? If it is, is there a way to decrypt them or are they lost forever?
Only you would know if you encrypted them or not. Only you would know what program you used if you did encrypt them.
Right click one of the JPEG's and choose Properties. What is the file type? Does it have a padlock icon next to it?
There is some open source software that claim the corrupted .jpeg files can be fixed, but I can't vouch for their effectiveness or safety.
