My friend got a Kernel security check failure error after installing new AMD graphics card drivers. The BSOD always occurs when he tries to log into his account on windows, so he cant even get to the desktop. He has bought his computer from a friend who had installed dual boot macOS and windows 8.1. I have no idea if this could affect the problem in some way but I guess its worth the mention. He has tried to do system restore but all the restore points fail. He also can't get to a safe mode because he gets an "unspecified error 0x80070057" when booting to safe mode. What can we do with this problem?
If you fail to start the computer 3 times in a row, it will come up with the Advanced Boot menu. Here you can try Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work, do you have a Windows install Media (ie)DVD or USB? If so, you can boot off of that and do Repair Your Computer.
We had already tried all those things and they didnt work. Now the computer is formatted and new windows installed. I guess thread solved...
