Wireless Internet to Desktop to Router to Laptop

Ok Iv tried and tried and tried and Im driving myself crazy. Maybe Im doing something wrong? What Im trying to do is get my laptop to connect to the internet through a wireless router that is connected to my desktop computer that connects to the internet through an Alltel USB Card. The desktop compy doesnt have a wireless card on it but it is directly plugged into the router. Iv managed to get the laptop to discover and connect to the router but thats it. Cannot browse files on my desktop for it, and cannout browse the internet from it, and yes, I connected to the internet on my desktop. Maybe this is impossible or something? Any help would be appreciated. And to clarify things also, the laptop has wireless card built in, the router is a Wireless G Linksys. The laptop runs on Vista and the desktop runs on XP. Iv search high and low and have been unable to figure this out.

Re: Wireless Internet to Desktop to Router to Laptop

Hellp HardKorez,

Have you tried plugging in your laptop wired directly to the router? Can you get an internet connection?
Can you provide these info for me in order for me to assists you?
1.) click on Start and type cmd. From the command prompt, pls. type ipconfig /all then right click on the mouse choose Select and paste and post it here.
2.) click on start => right click My Computer=> locate hardware then Device Manager, find Ethernet Adapters, locate your Wireless ethernet adapter is there a yellow ! mark? if it does right click on it and choose Update driver and have your wireless ethernet driver ready.

Let's start from here. RD
