Let me start by saying I know little about networking/bridging or how it works. So please be patient with me.
I have a HP EliteBook 850 (issued to me by my company), Windows 7.
I receive an internet connection through with wireless card (Intel Dual Band AC7260) on my home wifi signal (ISP: ATT Uverse).
I have a Polycom 331 VOIP phone (currently plugged into wireless router).
I want to be able to plug my Polycom phone into my LAN port of my computer and use it. I know this can be done because another agent who lives close to me (all the same equipment) has his phone plugged into his computer.
What I have tried:
This other agent bridged his wireless connection with his LAN to make it work. I tried this and as soon as I plug in the phone to the LAN the wireless drops out. I did quite a bit of reading about this and tried to change the power settings (wireless adapter) within the computer, tried to change the priority (in the adapter setting I changed the interface metric). Neither of these worked. Each time I changed the settings and plugged in the VOIP phone the wireless dropped out.
I also read about and tried using ICS. This also did not work. I read about adding additional services under the sharing settings and added the recommended services but this did not work either.
Any help would be helpful. Like I said above, I know it can be done because I have a fellow agent that is currently doing it.
