I have a weird networking issue at home. I've created a small schematic so that its easier for you people to understand my issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
My maint router/modem is the only DHCP Server- 192.168.1.1
Router 1's static ip is - 192.168.1.2 (dhcp server off)
Router 2's static ip is - 192.168.1.3 (dhcp server off)
I can communicate with Router 2 from Router 1 via the main router/modem, but no communication at all to other devices if i connect to the main router/modem.
One thing that i noticed in the link you sent is that the ips assigned to the routers should be outside the DHCP range of the main modem/router. I'll try doing that and hope it works.
Is your ISP/provider Verizon FIOS? If so, see this FAQ describing the different ways you can configure your network and still maintain DVR and TV Caller ID communications. From your diagram, I think you want option 2, but that will dual-NAT everything on the second router. This isn't a issue for FIOS DVR's, but any computer on the 2nd router will have problems with UPnP and/or port forwarding. This would include the "DVR" in diagram if you need remote access to the cameras.
It is connected by their lan ports not wan ports. Unfortunately, I am in Mauritius my provider is Mauritius Telecom and their tech support is useless.
I dont think it has anything to do with subnet.
DVR is connected to my main Router/Modem - I can access it through secondary router A and third Router B but i cannot access it if i connect my laptop directly to the main router/modem which does not make sense. All the devices that i connect directly to the main modem/router can be accessed through router A and router B but I cant access them if I directly connect my laptop to the main router/modem.
When connected to the main router go to a cmd prompt and run the command ipconfig /all. Post the results for review.
when connected to main router can you ping 1.2 and 1.3?
what is the ip of the dvr?
What model Huawei is it? I am wondering if vlans are active on this router.
