[SOLVED] Can connect to wireless but not Local Area Connection
Hi all,
I have read a few posts in this forum had similar trouble, but it really didn't help for me.
My laptop (win7) can connect to wireless, but not Local Area Connection.
This is the capture of my device manager, it reported that the driver of ip6 failure. but I do not think ip6 relates.

I tried configuring a static IP address, reinstalling network driver, or disabling and enabling network cards, but they no helped.
All computers in LAN can access internet normally.
Please hep me to solve this issue.
Thank you!

Right click and uninstall all with the yellow ! marks. Update your Broadcom driver from this link.
Test your connection after. If it still unsuccessful please provide us with ipconfig /all output for review:
Click on Start => in run or search box type cmd, press enter. From the command prompt (black screen), Copy and Paste these ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt . Please attach the .txt file to be found in your Local Disk 'C' on your next post.

Re: Can connect to wireless but not Local Area Connection
Thanks for the ipconfig /all output and it doesn't look proper.
Let's reset the TCP/IP and Winsock.
Click on Start=> All Programs => Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.
Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log press enter
Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log press enter
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog press enter
Restart the computer after and test your connection after.
Please report your progress.

Thanks very much. I have read about this method in this forum and I tried it.
I have just retried again.
The same problem occured is when typing netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log and enter, it said that "there's no user specified settings to be reset".
netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log and netsh winsock reset catalog looked OK.
Do you think that's problem with IP6 driver?
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Can connect to wireless but not Local Area Connection
Thanks for trying. Please list all Anti-Virus/Security Software that you have installed.
You shd also consider going to Dell's site and update all the chipset drivers of your computer.
Also, pls. run chkdsk.

Re: Can connect to wireless but not Local Area Connection
He's Noone? What kind of praise is that? ;)
Part of your hard drive was probably corrupted, causing your slow boot and also containing information about your drivers that was 'read', but incorrectly. Chkdsk reallocated that data to a good section of your disk. If it's a newer notebook, you might want to see how much of it went bad, and possibly alert Dell tech support of the issue. If it's on record, they'll be more inclined to fix it under warranty later on if the failure is more severe next time.

johnthomson - I'm wondering if chkdsk also resolved the issue from this Thread so that we can inform jcgriff2?

I used to explain it including references to Magic Gnomes, but I found the people I was trying to help would never take me seriously... ;)
