Hi,

Everytime I try to connect to the internet I get this message "Problem with network adapter or access point". I have also gotten an error message stating that the proxy settings cannot be detected.

I have Comcast Xfinity high speed internet.

I downloaded and ran the Xirrus wifi inspector but each time I did so the program would stop working and needed to close. I could however run the connections test:
The DNS Reachable test results = Fail:100% Ping loss
The Gateway reachable test results= N/A
The DNA lookup test results= Fail:DNS lookup failure
The Internet reachable test results= Fail: No IP available

Also, my network I would connect to shows up with a signal of -40 dBM, default encryption of AES-CCMP and is WPA2/PSK.

Today I uninstalled my Avira Antivirus hoping it would solve the problem.

I had a comcast repair man check out my internet today and he said that there was no problem with the network adapter and that it must be some internal setting that is not letting my computer reach the internet. He tried disabling my firewall and that did not help.

I have a Atheros AR9285 wireless network adapter. I also tried manually uninstalling the network adapter and restarting the computer so it would autoinstall.

Also, the comcast repairman hooked my laptop directly to the modem with an ethernet cord and I was still unable to get onto the internet.

Welcome to TSF,

Pls download the latest Atheros driver here:
ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager then manually install the latest driver.
