Latency Spikes

Hi,

I have a 200mbps internet connection provided by Cabovisão (I'm from Portugal but since i didn't found any help on portuguese forums i decided to try other ones :D), to which I'm connected via Ethernet. It gives me around 20mbps of download speed and constant 60ms when playing games (League of Legends, Rocket League, CS:GO), but when my dad starts watching streams (He uses a program to watch television channels on his computer) my connection spikes between 1000-2000ms nearly every two minutes.

Is there any way of solving this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Sadly, no. No matter how much bandwidth you have, if someone is watching a video or downloading stuff while you're gaming, your latency will take a hit.

There is a QoS (Quality of Service) or Traffic Control option in routers that you can use to set the maximum speed used by a particular device. You can give that a try but I doubt it will improve your latency spikes...
