Can anyone please tell me why I keep losing my internet connection? What’s happening is three to four times a week the connection to the internet on my Comcast NetGear CG814WG v2 wireless gateway drops. I am able to connect to the gateway from my desktop using a Linksys WUSB54GC wireless – G USB adapter, but the internet connection keeps dropping off! I also have a Vonage adapter connected directly to the gateway and a Tivo box wirelessly connected.
I have contacted Comcast support numerous times and they were no help. They said it could be my wireless phone causing the problem so I unplugged it for a week and the internet connection still went out. The next time I called they told me it could be a problem with the gateway itself and that they would send someone out to replace it. They told me this twice and the technicians never came to replace it. Another time I called, a tech in the networking department instructed me to connect to the gateway and change the transmit channel, this also did not work. One day a technician finally showed up and told my wife it’s probably caused by the Vonage adapter, so I contacted Vonage and of course they said it’s not the adapter that’s causing the problem.
I’m using 128 bit WEP encryption.
I using Win XP SP3
I am at a total loss! Can someone please give me some guidance?
