Hi, my internet has recently been spiking every 10-15 seconds constantly. Wired and wireless both experience the spike. My modem is SMCD3GN-RRR.
Heres a ping to google.ca:
I've called my ISP and they said everything was fine after they ran some tests.
What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
You loosing data packet 2%. Send data is fine but receive is lost.
Run your app under the CLR profiler, and see where the CPU is being used.
As an aside, do you have any thing in the networking path, from the app to the driver ( like a virus scanner, firewall, IPSec agent etc) ? Try switching them off one by one and see if this spike goes away
I don't know what CLR profiler is. How and what app do I use under the CLR profiler?
Also, something odd I've discovered is that when my computer is idle and not using any programs or applications that require network usage, when I ping google.ca again, there are no spikes or loss.
Then its very likely the modem is causing the issue. You could replace it if its that big of an issue, but in my experience modems are a pain to deal with.
