Hi, I am trying to pinpoint a network issue and have been advised to bypass my router and connect directly to the internet, but have no idea how to do this.

I currently have a Netgear router, which I am connected physically to through an ethernet cable. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

By the terminolgy bypass a router , we mean connect the equipment or computer directly to a modem. It is ver easy to do.
disconnect the ethernet cable (which is originating from computer) from back of router and connect it to the modem .
now a connection is established between a computer and modem.hence router can be removed.
if you can provide some more info like make & model of modem, probably i could tell you more.
Regards,
Hary.

Thanks for your reply Hary.

I don't know what you mean by modem, however. Regards.

I don't think I have a modem. If it helps, the router I am using is a Netgear DG834GT. Thanks.
