My computer can search and ping sites, can Google search anything but cannot connect to any website beyond that. The strange part is I can connect to Netflix and stream b. all other websites and programs cannot connect and say they are offline. I have only found one solution which is completely resetting my computer to factory settings. Unfortunately as soon as I restart my machine the problem returns. PLEASE HELP!!

I know Wayne, still there was no answer available for this specific issue. Believe me I've searched all the forums I could find, including this one and there was not one post that lead to the solution.
Other people with this problem may find it usefull in the future to read what went wrong in the end.
Because my 2 pc's were directly connected wired! to my modem and when I plugged in the switch (without any other connections) the modem started showing this erratic behaviour. Now I haven't read any post describing this so even after 20 months I found it usefull. I have been reading posts from years back on different forums stating the same exact problem and none of them were solved if it wasn't DNS, firewall, virus,...
I think it might come handy for someone, somewhere, sometime. And if not, who cares?
