Hi,
A few months ago I got a computer built for me by a close friend who has been doing these things for years and who I'm sure wouldn't make any mistakes big enough to warrant these frequent crashes.
Since a couple of days/maybe a week after getting the computer, it's been crashing all over the place. I gave him back the computer after a while, and he installed a fresh copy of Windows, backed up my hard drive, and gave the computer back to me working fine. Again, this lasted two weeks, tops. All text below is details of my experiences with these crashes, which may or may not be useful, so feel free to skim for anything that could help.
This usually is while I'm playing a game in Steam, but has seemed to be caused in the past by running something as simple as Google Maps(?!?!). The crashes are in the form of my monitor turning off, or displaying a sign saying "not support" (which is a part of the TV's on-board system, nothing to do with the computer). This leads me to have to force a reboot.
They often were preceded by a flash of a single colour before I sent it back to my friend to get repaired, however I haven't noticed this since. The computer also starts acting up in terms of audio, as most audio stops, even if the video starts back up, which it has done in the past. In these instances, iTunes refuses to play music; even when the display says that music is being played, the time bar stays in the same place and no audio is heard. My audio mixer also shows no audio being played.
