I started using XBCD to use my XBOX Controller S for gaming, and all is fine. However the triggers were assigned to Joystick 11 & 12, so I attempted to change them. The setting changed fine, however I came across a little problem. It BSODed as soon as any button was pressed. Ok, fair enough, I then attempted to reassign it back using the utility, however it wouldn't let me do anything without a controller, which caused an instantaneous BSOD.

I have attached C:\Windows\Minidump folder with all 3 .dmp files.

OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Build 7601 (running in Test Mode) running on a Toshiba C660-18C Laptop.

Hi,

We have two bug checks:

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)

This indicates that a kernel-mode program generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Code:
STACK_TEXT:
fffff880`0840f7b0 00000000`00000000 : 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 : XBCD+0x9d2
^^ Overall, as we already know, XBCD.sys (Xbox controller software) is causing memory corruption. It's generally known that all 3rd party Xbox controller software such as XBCD, MotionJoy, etc, causes memory corruption as the device drivers don't work well with the OS due to poor programming. They do things they really shouldn't be doing, like attempting to access inaccessible memory, etc.

Your alternative here is to use Microsoft's official Xbox controller drivers.

Regards,

Patrick

Thanks for the help, I already fixed it by a reinstall of drivers. But I use an original XBOX Controller with a Super Joy Box 9 adapter, which I thought Microsoft didn't provide drivers for?

Correct in this situation.

Good to hear you solved it by reinstalling the drivers, that's not too common. Happy gaming.

Patrick
