OS: windows 7 64bit sp1

OS - Vista/ Windows 7 ? windows 7 x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64 bit What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7 64 bit ultimate Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? No Age of system (hardware) 2-3 years Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? 1 week. I reinstalled the OS and the problem persists. CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 MotherBoard Zotac geforce 9300-ITX [GF9300-G-E) Power Supply - brand & wattage Silverstone ST45SF 450W
Custom built System Manufacturer n/a Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom) n/a

I have been getting BSOD for a while now. i reinstalled the OS but I get the exact same error. I get
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x75C00)
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0xFFFFFA8006A0A440, 0xFFFFF80000B9C4D8, 0xFFFFFA8007437CF0)
Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe

I always get the same error. It happens most commonly when the computer is left idle for extended periods of time.

I have tested the ram individually and in both sockets for 8+ passes and had no errors.
I scanned the hdd and had no errors as well. I also attached the dump files from my previous installation of windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

The attached dump is of the DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) bugcheck. Essentially this means that a device driver is in an invalid or inconsistent power state because of sleep mode, hibernate, etc.

In your dump, it's mentioning VW7UX64V.sys a lot, which after a quick Google search appears to be a driver for VIA Networking Technologies USB Wireless LAN Adapter. I would recommend updating any drivers in regards to this wireless LAN adapter, because yours is dated from 2010.

Code:
VW7UX64V fffff880`0761b000 fffff880`07666000 Fri Mar 19 03:49:58 2010 (4ba32ca6) 0004661c None VW7UX64V.SYS

Code:
0: kd> !drvobj fffffa80066a3270 f
fffff80003274fb0: Unable to get value of ObpRootDirectoryObject
fffff80003274fb0: Unable to get value of ObpRootDirectoryObject
Driver object (fffffa80066a3270) is for:
 \Driver\VNWUND6V
Driver Extension List: (id , addr)

Device Object list:
fffffa800447c050

DriverEntry: fffff88007651f5c VW7UX64V
DriverStartIo: 00000000
DriverUnload: fffff880016f6cd0 ndis!ndisMUnloadEx
AddDevice: 00000000
I would not recommend using wireless networking USB devices in general on win7/8 based systems, especially because a lot of the drivers are created for Vista and when you use such a device on an OS like 7/8, the drivers aren't supported for 7/8 in various ways and are surefire ways to cause BSOD's.

Regards,

Patrick
