Have a problem running sony vegas (a video editing software package).
The problem simply put is that on many occasions (just to point out it does not happen on every occasion, but it does happen frequently) i run the program it either crashes with a blue screen or it freezes and i get an error report provided by sony vegas. Although not strictly the only time it happens, the time it crashes the most (well the times i've noticed it crashing today) is whenever i try to play a preview of what I have edited.
Anyone know how to solve this issue for me please? The details of the error report are below:
Thank you. WHat's a good alternative to Comodo, i hear zone alarm is pretty reliable, should i opt for that? also i had nvidia 285.5 installed but my card is an old one (pny 6200 512mb) and i am on sp3 xp so i know the latest drivers dont really support it properly, what is a good one to install?
I could try giving that driver another go, but the problem is that i had that driver installed before the one i have now and i was still getting the blue screens, so i am not entirely sure if that driver will solve the issue. But if you believe it's worth giving it another try, i'll install it again and see how it goes.
Today i uninstalled comodo and installed zone alarm and i again got a blue screen, this time not when previewing the video but whilst trying to render the video. The error message advised the following:
----------------------------------------
Try changing video adapters
Check for BIOS updates
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing
Error codes:
0x0000008E
nv4_minisys
-----------------------------------------------
Please find attached the BSOD report.
Thanks again for your help, it's very much appreciated.
in the device manager uninstall the video card
reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes rebooting
disable a/virus
install your drivers
reboot the computer
Would you mind giving me a step by step on how to uninstall the video driver please? Arent you supposed to wipe every trace of the nvidia video driver first (i have nvidia control panel installed also), before installing? I have reinstalled windows two times since the beginning of the year and really do not want to have to do it again, that is the only reason why i ask.
What is a good antivirus and firewall that you would recommend?
Haven't come across a blue screen yet whilst using Sony Vegas, but one thing i have noticed is that display has become slightly blurry, it most certainly is not as sharp and clean as it previously was.
Not had any blue screens (although i still had one program crash when previewing a vid in Vegas) since updating to the latest driver. So at the moment it all seems good with the updated driver.
As for the display, i still have a problem with the sharpness since updating, still seems rather blurry and not as it once was. Anyone have any solutions for this isuue?
Any chance you could point me in the right direction? Normally have someone here who helps me out with this stuff but as he's not here right now i need a little more instruction as i have no idea what monitor driver i have currently installed and how to go about finding and installing a new one.
Thanks again for the help, it's very much appreciated.
The driver should have been installed by the OS. You can check in device manager under Monitors to make sure. Below is a link from Hans-G's website on troubleshooting display issues.
