Hello TechSupport

New user here, I need a little help please,

Online gamer, since playing Dungeons and Dragons online I keep from time to time getting Bsod ( ntoskrnl.exe ), sometimes it will Bsod me while on the loading screen before I get into the game, sometimes it will be once ive logged out of the game and back to desktop after a few hours of playing.

I've 2 mini dump files so far, as ive only just learned how to create the files into my minidump folder, if possible I would like to know how to link them to you.

Mark.

Re: BsoD while playing games

Hi,

There are no .dmp files located in your attached jcgriff2 folder.

Please navigate to C:/Windows/Minidump and zip up any dump files located there that you'd like to have analyzed, and then attach that zip here. If there are no dumps located in C:/Windows/Minump, you may be writing full memory dumps to C:/Windows, and it'll be called MEMORY.DMP.

If there are no dumps in either of those locations, but you know you have a page file set up, any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, will delete this upon use.

If you cannot get into normal mode, please do this via Safe Mode.

Regards,

Patrick

The following error:

Code:
BUSL0_SRC_ERR_M_NOTIMEOUT_ERR (Proc 1 Bank 0)
implies that your processor sent out a request to L0 cache and there was a delay in return (invalid data, miss, etc).

1. Ensure your BIOS is up to date via HP's website.

2. Ensure you are within temperature standards and you are not overheating. Use any software of your choice to check this... Speccy, CoreTemp, RealTemp, etc.

I will need more dumps to confirm whether or not this is a consistent issue. To try and solve the issue you described above, copy the dumps in your dump folder and paste them to the Desktop. Once they are on the Desktop, try and zip them there.

Hi,

Thanks very much!

The two latest attached dumps are still of the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) bugcheck, and if we run an !errrec on the WER structure address:

Code:
BUSL0_SRC_ERR_M_NOTIMEOUT_ERR (Proc 1 Bank 0)
in both dumps.

With this said:

1. Ensure your BIOS is up to date via HP's website.

2. Ensure you are within temperature standards and you are not overheating. Use any software of your choice to check this... Speccy, CoreTemp, RealTemp, etc.

If both of these pass, your CPU is faulty and will need to be sent to HP to be repaired / replaced.

Patrick

Re: BsoD while playing games

Hi,

Yes, my sincere apologies... I do indeed mean Packard Bell. Sorry, I deal with many threads at a time.

Your temperatures are just fine, thanks. If the BIOS update is not available, or it does not help, you will need to contact the manufacturer for a repair and or replacement.

Re: BsoD while playing games

Hi,

Temps look fine even during / shortly after load. More than likely not a temperature issue, thanks for the screenshots. This PC is not overclocked and is at stock settings, correct?

If there is no BIOS update available, then there's not much else we can do here aside from you contacting the manufacturer of your system and telling them you're having 0x124 BSOD's and having consistently in crash dumps your processor sending out requests to the L0 cache and there's a delay in return (invalid data, miss, etc). With such consistency as yours, it's very indicative of a faulty CPU. Has the system always been like this, and if not, how long have you had it? Just curious.

This is not a software issue, unfortunately. The only thing that could cause this software wise would be for example a utility that is provided by the manufacturer that monitors voltages, temperatures, etc. Sometimes these software can cause large amounts of issues because they can also make a connection between the OS and the BIOS to provide on-the-fly adjustments (overclocking for example) and readings without having to reboot and get to the BIOS, and it's just bad news bears.

Re: BsoD while playing games

Hi

Correct, the PC has never been overclocked.

The issue has only arised, since playing D&D online, although it never BSOD'd when I started the game, which I've been playing for a while, it's only just popped up about 3-4 weeks ago.

The PC is now about 3-4 year's old, and I only use it for gaming.

I guess i'll take it into the place I brought it, as I've had it insured all that time, and let them fix it, free of charge .

Only reason I haven't taken it yet, is that I wanted to see if it could have fixed without taking it into the shop.

Mark

Re: BsoD while playing games

Hi,

3-4 years old, that's definitely right around the time hardware failure can happen. Theoretically hardware failure can obviously happen at any time, but the longer you have the system and the more you use it, the more your hardware is eventually susceptible to failure from all of the underlying conditions (heat, etc).

Thanks for all of the consistent information, Mark. I appreciate your cooperation. Best of luck!
