Hello all,
Recently I built a custom Pc. The build went well for a first timer.
The problem started with Windows 7 home premeium 64 SP 1.
I had two bsod in two days. I am not sure what caused them. I can't seem to find
the dmp.text files.
Next windows failed updating Security Essentials.
The action center showed red flags for both windows defender and realtime protection.
I tried turning them on and updates with no luck.
Finally restored PC to the first MAJOR Updates 167 of them. PC only 10 days old.

My question. Is Widows corrupt? Do i need to reinstall.Should I get rid of Microsofts Security Essentials.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Patrick
Sorry about the blank attachment.Might be that my computer was not set to record crash dumps.
This morning I tried to look for them and I cant get windows to load. It keeps restarting and goes to the windows error recovery screen. It won't start up normally or in safe mode.. I think I really have a serious problem with the PC. lucky my laptop runs so I can post. I don't know what to do...
Thanks for your assistance.

Thank you Patrick
I started by pressing F8 key until I see the Advanced Boot Options screen. Once I got to this screen, highlight Repair Your Computer. This also didn't work. After two attempts
I saw an option to restore to a previous working state. After some time it kicked in.
I am back to a semi working state. I did not use the windows 7 disk yet. (not sure if its
needed). So far the only problem is i am not able to connect to the internet yet.
Will try to search for dmp files now. Will post back soon.

Well that didn't work. I used windows 7 disk. Got it back to close to when I first installed
windows. What a mess.. Internet seems to work. but now I am getting a Yellow triangle
with an exclamation point saying "Optional update delivery is not working".
You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.. OH MY. (what the bleep).

Well, as I never saw any dumps, I don't know what was wrong

If I had to guess, it was likely just OS/file system corruption. It's generally the most common as far as broken Windows installs go.

General tips are to just always keep your drivers up to date via the manufacturers website (not Windows Update or DevMan), and to have an antivirus (I recommend MSE for Vista/7, and Defender for 8) + paired with Malwarebytes Free.

Regards,

Patrick

Good advice Patrick.
After a clean install of win7,mother board driver cd, video driver cd. and 169 windows
updates. which included some other drivers (monitor keyboard) I thought all was good.
This morning I downloaded MSE after updates and a full scan I am back to where I was
before. endless looping of startup.
I pressed F8 and hit the option about restarting. restarted and got stuck on BSOD
with the stop code :0x000000F4
I cannot get the pc to startup.
It's hard to believe one day I was enjoying a new PC playing my favorite games and the next it's a $1000.00 doorstop.
Any thoughts?
