Re: BSOD W7 DELL XPS L702 after sleep mode

Hi -

Honestly, rather worthless information-
Code:
Caused By Driver : [B]ntoskrnl.exe[/B]
ntoskrnl.exe = Windows NT Kernel & Executive and is listed as a default when an exact cause cannot be determined.

There really is no substitute for Microsoft WinDDK Windbg.

Re: BSOD W7 DELL XPS L702 after sleep mode

Hi -

The 3 dumps had 2 different bugchecks.

The most recent 2 BSODs named NVIDIA video. Ironically, NVIDIA drivers were updated after the first BSOD, which named Synaptics touchpad driver as the probable cause, not NVIDIA.
Code:
[FONT=lucida console]nvlddmkm.sys                Thu [COLOR=red]Aug 30[/COLOR] 11:50:16 [COLOR=red]2012[/COLOR] (503F8BB8) - NVIDIA[/FONT]
[FONT=lucida console]nvlddmkm.sys                Tue [COLOR=red]Oct  2[/COLOR] 14:21:13 [COLOR=red]2012[/COLOR] (506B3099) - NVIDIA[/FONT]

[FONT=lucida console]SynTP.sys                   Thu [COLOR=red]Sep 23[/COLOR] 19:49:07 [COLOR=red]2010[/COLOR] (4C9BE773) - Synaptics[/FONT]
Check for Synaptics driver updates at Dell Support 1st - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/xps-l702x

http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=nvlddmkm.sys
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=SynTP.sys

I noticed that Dell has a BIOS update available.

Your current BIOS as reported by Windbg - A12 -
Code:
 [FONT=Lucida Console][BIOS Information (Type 0) - Length 24 - Handle 0000h][/FONT]
[FONT=Lucida Console]Vendor Dell Inc. [/FONT]
[FONT=Lucida Console]BIOS Version[COLOR=red] A12[/COLOR][/FONT]

[FONT=Lucida Console]BIOS ROM Size 280000[/FONT]
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers...?driverId=T4J7J&osCode=W732&fileId=2731103524

Update available - A19 -
Code:
[FONT=Lucida Console]L702X System BIOS [/FONT]
[FONT=Lucida Console]Release Date:   10/26/2012[/FONT]
[FONT=Lucida Console]Importance:     Recommended[/FONT]

A19 BIOS - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers...?driverId=CPF0J&osCode=W732&fileId=3080900230

You may have to roll NVIDIA drivers back; not sure yet.

SOLVED! Re: BSOD W7 DELL XPS L702 after sleep mode

Dear friends,
Now when more than a weak have passed without BSOD I can say that the problem was solved!:thumb: McAfee was the cause of all my troubles! I am unable to tell you why this happened but obviously from some time the program is "fighting" with nvidia drives. I am gonna check if this was the reason for system crashes after switching from one windows user to anoter?:cool: Don't hesitate to remove it when such problem appears!
Best regards!:dance:
