BSOD w/ntoskrnl.exe

I've been having random BSODs that seem to have started a few weeks ago when I encrypted my wireless router. Attached are my mini dump files but the most common problem seems to be with ntoskrnl.exe and nwifi.sys. I haven't installed any new hardware or software and all my drivers are updated. I've run Avast and malwarerbytes insafe mode and nothing has turned up. My Interenet connection has slowed to a crawl and it disconnects occassionally. I'm usng Windows 7. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi -

Your wifi USB driver is the probable cause on all dumps -
Code:
[font=lucida console]athrxusb.sys                Tue Jul 29 08:47:13 2008 (488F1151)
[/font]
http://www.sysnative.com/drivers/driver.php?id=athrxusb.sys

It's a driver written by Atheros; not usually easy to find an update for.

It is way too old for a fully updated 2012 Windows 7 SP1 system.

Hi -

Yes, you'll need a new wifi adapter if no driver update can be found.

I would highly recommend staying away from products with Atheros drivers.

Check out Realtek - they are one of the best manufacturers that update USB wifi drivers on a regular basis.

When purchasing, look for one that supports both Windows 7 & Windows 8 as those are more likely to have driver updates for years to come.

The primary reason that your current USB wifi adapter begain giving you problems after a year's good service = Microsoft updated Windows 7 SP1 networking related OS drivers like tcpip.sys, netio.sys, nwifi.sys, etc... and new & old (your Atheros Vista SP1 era driver) don't always play nicely together.

For info, ntoskrnl.exe = Windows NT Kernel and shows up as a default.
