Hi there
I have tried to follow your instructions, please find the zip file attached.. Please let me know if I have not uploaded correctly and I will get that fixed ASAP.
My machine has worked beautifully for last year and half but over past few months seems to be causing me more & more problems. I play games but nothing too stressful Guild Wars etc.. my son plays a lot of CS:S & TF2 on the Steam network. Trouble is machine has started rebooting itself and giving up a lot of BSoD and I can't work out the cause. Machine is as follows;
Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 2 (build 6002)
Processor a Main Circuit Board b
2.45 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
4096 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (4 total)
Not hyper-threaded Board: http://www.abit.com.tw/ IP35 (Intel P35+ICH9/R) 1.0
Bus Clock: 272 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 05/24/2007

SAMSUNG HD501LJ [Hard drive] (500.11 GB) -- drive 0, s/n S0ZFJ1NP802917, rev CR100-11, SMART Status: Healthy
Seagate Desktop USB Device [Hard drive] (500.11 GB) -- drive 1, s/n 2GHKB06N 4094 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
Slot 'A0' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A1' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A2' has 1024 MB
Slot 'A3' has 1024 MB
Local Drive Volumes
c: (NTFS on drive 0) 500.11 GB 164.71 GB free
f: (NTFS on drive 1) 500.11 GB 382.91 GB free
Samsung SyncMaster [Monitor] (22.0"vis, s/n HSDP841798, August 2007)
All required security hotfixes (using the 01/21/2010 Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary) have been installed.
I have tried everything I know.. Updated Drivers for the Nvidia 8800GT (are there any other main drivers that could need updating? motherboard is Abit)
I have run AddAware & Spybot, have all updaes loaded have defragged and run full virus scans... machine seems clean as a whistle. I was having problems with a program that RBS online banking (large UK Bank) install on the machine called Rapport which causes known problems with Steam so removed that. I am just stuck. I don't know whether it is a hardware issue or software. I have obviously full Vista 64 disks so can do reinstall but as I have never don one before I am loath to start now. I have full backup so not a problem if required...
There is constantly a Red light showing on the motherboard all the time which seems odd to me but I don't know whether this is a new thing or whether it has always been there..
I have cleaned all dust very carefully from machine and everyting looks rock solid..
Anyone any thoughts on where I should start my more serious attempt to fix this? The problem is the BSoD which come up randomly but a lot more often when son is playing on Steam or other intensive games. However BSoD does come up during normal browsing or watching .AVI's.. DVDs as you will see from the logs..
Any thoughs suggestions pointers would really be much appreciated..
Thanks in advance
