Hello,

I'm writing as I have a problem. During last 3 days I had BSOD twice. Both happened in random situation. One when I was minimizing game and switching to browser. Second happened when I woke PC from sleep mode and perform a shut down, after I clicked bum BSOD. I don't know what could happen. Before PC was performing really well. Around two / three weeks ago I changed my HDD and reinstalled everything including Windows. While changing HDD I decided to strip all components clean up the case and then put all components back. But after that PC was working fine. Last thing that I installed - newest nVidia drivers. Any idea what can it be? I attached .dmp files to this post. I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks, Norbert.
PS. Sorry for my English.

Hi,

We have two bug checks:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)

This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced.

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

---------------

1. Remove and replace avast! with Microsoft Security Essentials for temporary troubleshooting purposes:

avast! removal - avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal

MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

2. Install Service Pack 1 - Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

3. Remove ALL Asus software, it's all bloatware. Even though you should be removing all, be especially sure to remove Asus PCProbe.

Regards,

Patrick

Hello,

Thank you very much for your post. According to your tips I uninstalled avast! and installed MSE, removed most of Asus software (inc. PCProbe) and installed SP1. I turned off auto optimization of nVidia drivers (optimize each game settings individually). I also run HDD diagnostic as well as memtest for RAM. HDD seems to be OK. I just don't know about RAM I was testing it with memtext.exe first time all at same time and it came out with one error. Then I swapped places of two RAM pieces and run test again. After 4 hours it did not find any error, which is strange. I think I should run RAM test from bootable CD, what do you think? Any suggestions?

Also is there any piece of software that can diagnose my PC hardware like graphic card or motherboard?

As well, for the record, from last BSOD I did not experience any more.

Thanks,

Norbert
