trojan win32 generic bt
was called to work on a computer..
Problem: computer acting real slow and internet wont pick up.
Description: Windows Xp pro, 2 GB 184 pinn. AMD 3100+ 1.8Ghz w/ AVG antivirus
Steps: basic troubleshooting.. uninstalling unneeded software, scan disk, uninstalled AVG and installed Vipre anitivirus (created by Sunbelt software)
ran deep virus scan.. picked up traces of TROJAN WIN32 GENERIC BT. Quarantined and remove. ( so i thought).
restarted comp., still loaded slow/ no internet.. ran deep scan again to confirm removal.. no traces of virus.. Again basic troubleshooting- tested internet card in another comp.. worked fine.. installed another hdd in there same unit.. worked fine...
tried updating virus definitions...error?!?!?! rebooted., antivirus never loaded.. uninstalled and reinstalled, halfway thru install, comp shuts down.. tried installing other anti virus programs.. kapersky, norton, avg,. etc... error, comp shuts down..
reformatted hd, deleted partition. created new, reinstalled windows xp, ran fast and internet worked.. downloaded service packs 2 and 3.. internet works great... installed virus scan..complete.. ran deep scan..no threats detected..reboot for testing..anti virus never loaded..tried running program.. comp shut down..now even in safe mode antivrus wont work( virus definitions are missing) also in safe mode, or safe mode and networking comp shuts down..after 2 min..
reformatted again, same steps more or less diff order of installing. end result same.... created antivirus boot dics.. fail
SUMMARY- after 2 reformats, several antivirus programs, computer wont stay booted up.. And for those who ask about conflicts with other software... no after installation of windows, straight to services pcks, and then antivirus programs...no other installations..
Question- whats next... bessides new hard drive.. and no i cant perform hijack this with constant shut downs..
