Hi my computer has been taken over by the virus that attaches to that anti virus gold website. I thought I got rid of it but I think it was on my computer x2! That sounds crazy but I have no idea whats going on! I had 2 icons on my toolbar in the bottom right hand corner telling me my computer is infected, one an X the other an !. The ! is gone after the first time I ran all the scanning programs (Adaware, Ewido, etc) but low and behold Antivirus Gold can't seem to take a hint and get the heck off my computer. The icon with the x in the red circle is still down there telling me my computer is infected... Please help me get rid of it for good! Its driving me crazy. Here is my HJT logfile.

Howdy, and welcome to TSF!

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

===============

Download, unzip to your desktop CWShredder and run it, then:

1. Click "Check For Update"

(If an update isn't available, skip to step #4.)

2. Click "Click here to Download the upate".
3. When the new version has been downloaded, click "Save".
4. Click "Fix ->"

===============

Let's look for, and delete, any program segments(prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the 'problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

1) Click "Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

htinv.exe*

2) Then if any are found in the 'prefetch' folder, delete them.

Look closely, since the 'base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

===============

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\htinv.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

===============

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for c:\windows\SvcProc.exe and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intel32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\intel32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Intel system tool] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [cwo2RVb9P] htinv.exe
O4 - Startup: HOTLLAMA Update Check.lnk = C:\Program Files\HOTLLAMA MEDIA\Player\WiseUpdt.exe

O23 - Service: System Startup Service (SvcProc) - Unknown owner - c:\windows\SvcProc.exe (file missing)

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

C:\Program Files\HOTLLAMA MEDIA

files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\hookdump.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\htinv.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\intel32.exe

Search for...

htinv.exe

...using "Start | Search...".

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them from "Safe Mode".

===============

Post back a new log, and let us know how everything goes.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for System Startup Service (SvcProc) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Delete an NT Service. Paste the following into the box:

System Startup Service (SvcProc)

Click OK.

Run a scan using Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Be sure to select any AutoClean Feature. Post the log from the Panda scan here, along with a new HJT log, please.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it.

Reboot into Safe Mode.

Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - Choose YES when informs you the file will be deleted on Reboot. Choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msole32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ole32vbs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winupdt.bin
C:\protas.exe
