What Failed this year in your garden?

So it is coming to the end of the year for a lot of people when it comes to growing. What just did not grow for you this year? Will you try growing it again next year?

Re: What Failed this year in your garden?

My failures were Okra and squash . . not too unusual for squash to not do well here . . too much humidity and critters. The Okra was a real disapointment . . usually does well, but not this year.

Here in Houston, the Fall garden will usually be better than the Spring one . . 'maters, beans and peas do much better in the Fall. Peppers ( Jalapino and Cayune ) sorvived the heat of the summer and are starting to put on new blooms.

Re: What Failed this year in your garden?

My hot peppers have turned to mush before they can mature. I'm going to keep them until winter in hopes that the fall will be good to them. I cannot wait until I can get enough property to have a raised garden.

Re: What Failed this year in your garden?

Im jealous. I miss the warmer climates that you both have.
You guys talk of growing things into the fall.
Trust me, here in Toledo growing season is pretty well done and its been a big flop.
It just hasnt been warm enough for things to go well.
Everyone I talk to around here has had very limited success.
Im just getting to where I have more than 3 tomatos a week.
I have a lot of them, they just dont turn red.

I remember living just outside of Tampa in a somewhat shaded back yard and had the same green pepper bush for over 3 years.
I found that since it didnt freeze I could prune half of it every 6 months or so and it would regrow twice as thick. So I guess I had a half of a bush at all times but 3 times the peppers.

Now, here, they get going good and die because its winter.

If you need an address to ship your bounty, PM me
