I've got an 8hp briggs #190432 6117 01. It came off a craftsmen 8hp shredder. I want to use this motor in a walk behind leaf blower. Can I remove the gear reduction part of this and just run a straight shaft? Would that shaft be 1"?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to TFS:

If it is anything like the gear reduction B&S engine that I have, the answer is no.
It will use a different crank shaft.

If you can give us a complete model number of the engine, we will look it up to make sure.

Sorry, not finding any info to verify what I said. The engine could be converted to a standard engine, but that would cost probably$200.00 + USD.

Harbor Freight has a 7 HP (Import) engine for $99.99 :

HORIZONTAL ENGINE, GASOLINE , EPA 212CC OHV 7HP

Hmmm. Might just have to break it down and check. Just moved. Have no internet yet, researching this is tough on a 2" phone screen! Thanks for your time.

If it had a standard crank, it would be long enough to stick through the case, guessing yours does not.

If you could attached a picture of the back of the engine, that could help.

Can I remove gear reduction from Honda GX240 HA2
I purchased a 8hp Honda engine model GX240 HA2 that has the 6 to 1 gear reduction. Thought it was a great deal, till I realized I need more rpm's for a water pump I was gonna use it for. Can I remove the 6:1 redcution housing and would I need to do anything else to get it to work with my pump?...
