  1. Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the new build?
    3000$ - 3150$
  2. Brands: Are there any brands of components you want or don't want? Intel Preferd, but will consider AMD GPUs but Nvidia preferd.
  3. Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this computer and if so, how much? Yes, Between Internet, Apps, games, and sometimes work.
  4. Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games? Yes, Quiet often basicly play new games that come out, not really old games.
  5. Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or media encoding? Not really no
  6. Overclocking: Do you plan on overclocking and if so, how much?
Yes i do probably round the 4.5 Ghz mark
  7. Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing? 1tb but will put my own HDD if i need more space, Also Games, Work, Videos/video editing stuff.
  8. Legacy Support: Will you need support for older hardware like parallel, serial, or PS/2 devices? ?
  9. Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility? Windows 7 64 bit
  10. Case: Do you want help selecting a case and if so, how big do you want it? What ever fits the hardware and looks awsome, dont really want led lights on it.
  11. Accessories: Do you want a keyboard, mouse, or other items included?
    No
  12. Recycled Components: Will you be reusing any components you already have?
    No
  13. Monitor: If you want a monitor, what size do you want and should it be widescreen?
    Round 23.5" LED
  14. Stores: Do you have any online stores that you prefer to purchase from? nop

Re: New Build 3k Budget

Never tell me to "have fun" with a computer build haha

i7 2700k
Radeon HD7950 x2 Crossfire
ASUS P8P67 Deluxe
GSKILL 2x4gb DDR3-2133
Crucial M4 128gb SSD
Seagate Barracuda 1tg 6gb/s 32mb cache
ASUS DVD-RW
Cooler Master HAF 922
SeaSonic 1250w 80+ Gold
Hanns-G 27.5" 1920x1200 x3 Eyefinity

Total cost on newegg for shipping to USA is $3158.31; I couldn't tell you how much more or less an Australian vendor would cost you.

Your monitor is the face of your build and most influential on your experience, so if you're going to spend $3k I'd say make sure you get an amazing display At this price range I'd go with Eyefinity or at least a huge single monitor. Also, if you're going to be doing a lot of work, go with 16:10 instead of widescreen's 16:9. Much better for work and web surfing.

Considering your budget and the flexibility that comes with it, your best potential build depends more than anything on your preferences. The best advice I can give is to make sure all your parts, especially the PSU, are top quality and from the most trustworthy brands.

Re: New Build 3k Budget

There is no need to spend $3000 US for a PC when the same performance can be accomplished for considerably less.
We have composed a suggested build list as a guide: Want to Build a New Intel or AMD System / Revised 2012 and updated regularly

This is so very true. Unless you step up the demanding tasks or start stacking them, dollars-to-performance drops to the floor after the $1200 build. For single display HD gaming there's very little more benefit to gain. If you want to do Eyefinity, which would be awesome but only if your particular games are optimized for it, you can justify spending more on GPU(s) with significant performance gains. Otherwise it's the difference between 99% of max and 99.5% of max.

there is NOTHING superior about a DELL unless you like being stuck without chance of major hardwarte upgrades and skimpy one year warranty unless you pay more which is stupid; considering most all major computer parts have 3 year warranty

Dell is what you buy for internet surfing machine or want to populate a cxorporate office with dum-dum stations as we call them

Re: New Build 3k Budget

I believe linderman thought the poster was referring to a Dell system and he was absolutely correct per usual.
Dell Ultra Sharp monitors used to be made by Samsung but I'm not certain if that is still in effect.

Re: New Build 3k Budget

I've always used Viewsonic Lcd's and have never had a problem with one. Samsung are also good, but I would stay away from hans-g monitors.
