Ok so, I got my motherboard a couple days ago and, I connected my PSU, fans, front panel connectors, and everything else to it, and it doesn't turn on. I don't have my processor, ram, or hard drive yet. When I connected it all, then shorted the 24pin, everything turns on, but when the 24pin is connected to the motherboard, nothing turns on.

So what's wrong?

I have tried turning it on with the case power switch and the motherboard switch.

The fans should at least turn on though. Shouldn't they?

Re: PSU wont turn on when connected to motherboard

the cpu=the brain
ram=lungs

how would you go without them

the psu more than like needs to be under a certain load from the m/b to kick in

some also need a h/drive load to be added before there is enough draw to kick in

Ok so just wait until I get everything else?

And why does it turn on when I short the 24pin?

Re: PSU wont turn on when connected to motherboard

i would think it bypasses the m/b procedure

or there is a short between the m/b and the case
