I have a dell st2420l monitor. I use it as a secondary display for my monitor. When i turn on the monitor it shows the dell logo for a split second and goes blank. It then flashes the "no hdmi detected screen" and goes blank. If I connect my laptop it flashes the screen and goes blank. I tried to change the resolution through windows settings and it again flashes the screen and goes blank. The monitor is about 3 years old. Unplugging and replugging also cause the same.
Try connecting the monitor to another source using the same cable/port.
That will confirm a monitor or PC issue. At this point, there is no way to know if the monitor is faulty or if there is simply no signal output from the computer.
Most likely power supply failure & 99% certain that it requires electrolytic capacitors replaced on Power supply board .. take it to an experienced Electronics Technician and ask how much to replace the capacitors including labour
I just replaced the power cable with a spare one. The issue continues. So the power cable was not faulty.
Late night, the monitor turned on when I fiddled with the resolution settings again. It returned to its previous state when I launched a full screen application. Shows the screen for a split second and goes blank.
I spent several years doing bench repairs on Computer Monitors .. I suggest you follow the advice I gave earlier .. Standard symptoms of faulty capacitors from any manufacturer ..
Ok. I'm on it. I recently shifted to a new place and will have to find someone for the job. I was fiddling with it in the mean time. Thanks.
