KVM switch problem

I have just bought a sitecom kv011 switch to run my 2 pc's.
One pc is running vista 64bit and the LCD monitor and wireless mouse/keyboard work fine.
My other pc is quite old now but is running XP Pro, on this pc the shared mouse/keyboard work fine but the monitor just occassional flashes on then goes off and carries on like this.
The XP pc works fine if I plug my monitor in directly.
I have swapped over the cables and get the same result on my xp box all the time.
Does anyone have any ideas please.

Re: KVM switch problem

I have seen similar problems using KVM's when dual booting into Ubuntu / Win2K except that Win2k would boot normally whilst Ubuntu would fall back to 800*600 format .. but only with the KVM installed
I regret that I haven't understood the reason for this and can only think that there is some loss of signal quality via the KVM which forces the analysis to downgrade. Make sure that all your connectors are clean and no pins bent .. might even find a ferrite lug might help on the KVM cable .. as you might guess this is a problem I would also liek to see solved ..
