[SOLVED] Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

I'm trying to install my video card but I don't have the mini hdmi thing for my tv yet, the video card seems to have its fan running, but the driver will not see the hardware its self. I'm running off the onboard with the motherboard but I have the videocard installed correctly I don't see why I can't install the driver.

The question is will I have to plug my video card into my tv before it'll see the hardware on my computer ?

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

Now I have a really bad feeling that this isn't going too work, with my computer.

AMD A6-3620 only works with DDR3 and this video card says its, EVGA GTX 550Ti GEFORCE 2 GB SUPER CLOCKED, PCI EXPRESS 2.0 - GRAPHICS CARD - (GDDR5) but... It stated that this computer ONLY SUPPORTS DDR3 (Memory) and this is for memory and this is a video card, does that stand in the same ? This is GDDR5 and DDR5 isn't supported I guess, maybe this card will not work.. ?

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

I tried to get into the bios not sure how on this pc yet it just says press Esc and it has a list of things to try none help at all.

Somebody told me to set the PCI E from onboard I guess I don't know how too do that.

Any help would be great.

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

Your suppose to set the machine to use the pci-e port as the primary video output in the bios , if your still plugged into the onboard the card isn't going to show up.

Also , the memory the motherboard uses is completely separate from the cards vram.

I'm running WINDOWS 7 64-bit, with a 600 watt psu, you would think this would support that video card. Does anybody know before I go out and buy this mini hd adaptor, if this video card is supported to work with my computer ?

2 GB GDDR5 Memory PCI Express, PCI EXPRESS X 16 Slot, NVIDIA GEForce EVGA GTX 550Ti Graphics Card

Will this card even play games correctly without lag ?

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

Hook the card up to a monitor and boot the PC.
Does the TV have a VGA port most do now.
The HD T.V. has a DVI port, the monitor doesn't support this video card what so ever its an SD LCD Flat Screen made by COMPAQ I tried plugging my monitor into the videocard with no luck at all, I guess its not supported.

The DVI port on my tv is odd and the Hdmi on the video card is a mini port and I've never seen those. I have a DVI cable but the thing isn't the same on the side of my tv.

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

That is a VGA port on the TV not a DVI port.

Did the card come with a DVI to VGA adapter?

Did you plug the monitor in before or after booting?
Their is no reason the monitor would not be supported I've used 17" crt's on them when testing.
The 2nd picture with the pins, my monitor is just black and doesn't show anything, the adapter didn't work either it was incorrect.

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

What was wrong with the adapter?
The port on the TV is VGA the cable in your hand is DVI

Is the Compaq monitor DVI or VGA?
Looks like my tv and monitor is vga and the video card has DVI ports I have a DVI cable. I have an adapter that's VGA to DVI but it doesn't do much good for the tv. I can't get the monitor to show anything...

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

Wait. Did you plug the monitor in before or after booting?

The adapter plugs into my monitor but it didn't work I have such a headache from trying to find out why this doesn't work.

But none the less the monitor doesn't work no matter what you do, I've tried plugging in and un-plugging with no luck at all.

I can make a video for you if you like ?

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

The adapter needs to go on the video card, the card probably has 2 different DVI ports a DVI-I and a DVI -D the adapter will only fit on the DVI-I port, then you need a VGA cable from the adapter to the monitor.

What is the DVI cable from?

Shut down the PC reboot entering the bios under integrated peripherals look fo the video setting it should be set to PCIe or PEG first, save and exit shut down unhook the video cable from the integrated and hook it up the video card, reboot. if the screen stays black make sure the card is fully seated and the aux power cable is hooked up and fully plugged in, if all looks good test the card in another PC

Re: Can you install a driver with out the video card plugged into the hdmi ?

That's the correct hook up.
Okay man, I would like just say I'm sorry if I sounded stupid on here, I've had a bad headache for a week now.

But this issue is now solved :)

BIOS > SECURITY > SLOT SECURITY > PCI EXPRESS X16: ENABLE

FIXED

Thanks for your help man you're a great guy.
