nvidia hybridpower?

I have an albatron 1gig 9800gx2 pcie video card, and my OS is vista 64bit. in the task bar is a little icon called Nvidia HybridPower that lets me set graphics mode, either energy saver or performance. However, no matter what i set it on, i always get the message "unable to enter xxx graphics mode, which the current power plan requests." i've looked at my power plans (right now i have a performance power plan set), and nowhere can i see anything that would allow this.
While it's probably not necessary, does anyone know how to get it to work? or even uninstall it if it isn't?

Seems to be an SLI technology, can't you disable it in the nVidia Control Panel?
