Hi there.
I have just formatted my hard drive and installed XP pro, instead of the Home I had before. Now I have no sound.
I think I need a Multimedia Audio Controller driver, but try as I may, I cant find out what kind of sound card I have to download the correct drivers. Here is my Belarc diag, please could someone help me out as I cant make out where my sound card is on it, if its on it. I have checked Device Manager and also cant really make head nor tale of it either.

Did you download the chipset drivers and sound drivers from the motherboard disk? Your motherboard should have a disk for that. If not, then go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download them from there.

I didnt get any disks with the computer at all. I went back to the store I bought it from and they told me that compaq dont give disks out with their computers anymore, you have to make your own.
No I havnt downloaded any sound drivers as i dont know what kind to get. I dont know who the manufacturer of my motherboard is. Can you tell me how to find this out please?

HI,
What is the model of this compaq?
If you go to:
http://www.compaq.com/cpq-country/cpq_support.html

Input your model number and select your OS, you will be given a list of drivers.
Hope this helps.
Bill

Edit-I believe you have an SR1807UK model. You will not find drivers for this model on Compaq Site.
The model SR1807CL has the same specs as yours:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1847636
Scroll down to original drivers
Install the chipset first, Graphics, Audio.
Post back if you have any remaining errors in the device manager.
Bill

Thanks mate, thats it sorted.

I had already d/l the chipset / graphic drivers, but I couldnt find the audio driver, and again you were right in saying that it doesnt exist on the compaq list.

I had the guys at HP trying to help too, but they sent me to x-drivers.com and that download just brought up diagnostics on my WinRAR program and a file full of .exe files.

Thanks very much again, very very much appreciated.

Cammy

Hi Cammy22,
I am glad you have everything up and running.
I would suggest burning these drivers to CD so you have a copy of them.
I do not no why Compaq does not have them for your exact model on thier website.
Thanks,
Bill
