Please can any one help, I am some what of a novice to this stuff. The other day i was trying to clean my HP Compaq 6710b running XP of unused software I had down loaded and accidentally uninstalled SoundMax which i now know to be the soundcard software. i have tried a number of sites but when i download the SoundMax drivers and start going through the setup wizard it just says cannot find drivers!!!!!!

ARRRRRRGH!!!!

Anyone out there have the patients to help me out???

Did you reboot since you uninstalled soundmax? Is there a yellow mark by audio controller in device manager? Notice the Uaa driver under your soundmax at HP? install it first.

Hi Hitech, appreciate the responce but no yellow mark and have reboted a number of times as this laptop is my life (work and home as self employed - no computer fetish). Not sure what you mean by the Uaa drivers as i am a comupter idiot compared to you techies out there - much respect. Whats next???

These are the drivers for your laptop.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3356622&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=3356620&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1093
Go to my computer/properties/hardware/device manager/sounds and if soundmax is still there, right click/uninstall/reboot/cancel wizard then install the driver from HP.
