No sound on my computer

Hello
I have a Compaq Presario F700 that used to have Vista installed on it but now it has Windows XP.
When I had it with Vista, it was perfect and it had sound.
Now, however, after uninstalling Vista and installing XP, it has no sound.
Can somebody please help?

One thing you always need to do before doing something like downgrading an OS, is make sure there are drivers available and there are none for XP. My advice would be go back to Vista as you need chipset drivers and video and audio drivers for it to run well and there are none available.
The only other thing you could do is see if you can find the soundcard mfgr and find their drivers. This might help:

As rich-m said hp doesn't have drivers for xp. you would be hard pressed to find any. you could try searching for them manually How to find drivers
