compaq cq61 sound card mic not getting input signal at frequency greater than 24khz

hi all....

i have compaq cq61,windows 7 and i have installed linux mint 12 on it via vmware. i have set the microphone to 192khz but when i try to get the input from mic in linux mint then i dont get values above 24khz (that means my mic is working on 48khz,not 192khz). how can i get the input of some frequency greater than 24khz???
