I used to be able to play games on my computer just fine, then my computer crashed and i had to get a new hard drive. after my father reinstalled vista and all of the drivers, the games didn't work.

some games i played are:

star wars battle front ~ used to work, now when i start it, it appears in the task bar, but it doesn't show up and my mouse disappears

NWN ~ it just doesn't show up when started

Second Life Viewer 2 ~ only gets to "Initializing VFS" and freezes.

Second Life Viewer 1.23 ~ finishes loading but doesn't show up, it appears in the processes tab on the task manager though

also Second life works on my friends computer (we both have the same computer)
though i haven't tried the other games

I have tried, on all games, uninstalling and reinstalling

Make sure you have the correct drivers for your video card installed and download
the latest directx version.

I was hoping someone had a resolution to this problem. My Second Life Viewer 2 hangs at "Initializing VFS" too, and I've updated drivers for everything and updated the directx. Nothing seems to work. (Yes, fresh download and install of SL viewer 2, too).
