I just bought Toshiba notebook a month or so ago with Vista Premium sp1.
A day ago when I turned on notebook, I had a notice to the effect:
===========
Windows Wireless Lan 802.11 Extensibility Framework has stopped working.

-> Check for a solution later (recommended) next time you start system
-> Close
======================
Those were only two choices. I believe I clicked the first one "Check for a solution later."
When I turned on notebook today, I got the same message. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this new notebook? I can access the Internet.
My husband and I are senior citizens and not too familiar with computers or computer language so if someone has an answer, please make it simple enough for us to understand. We hope this new notebook isn't broken already. We can't afford to buy another computer or have this one repaired.
Can anyone please help?
Thank you very much.
Alice

(We have the DSL cable attached to our desktop computer (modem/router) and use this Toshiba notebook with that desktop's modem/router to get online (don't know if that is correct terminology as someone else connected the DSL, etc.). Lower right of screen shows "Local Area Connection. A network cable is unplugged. Wireless Network Connection."
And another says: "Currently connected to "XXXXX." Access Local & Internet.")

I would try doing this:

Click on the Start Button > Network

then look for network and sharing center

in the left pane of that window there should be a link to 'Manage Network Connections'

if you are connected via a wire, delete every connection except for the one entitled 'Local Area Connection'

if you are connected via Wireless, delete everything except local area connection and your wireless connection.

If you don't know how you're connected, delete all of the connections that are disconnected except for Local Area Connection.

you also might try

Start > [right click on computer and click 'properties'] > Device Manager (in the left pane)

then expand Network Adapters

right click each of the devices and click 'Update Driver Software' to make sue your device drivers are up to date. Hope it works!:smile:

I see in the Network Connections:
#1- Local Area Coonection Network cable unplugged Realtek RTL8102E Family PC
#2- Wireless Network Connection OK

I have the DSL cable connected to my desktop and the Vista notebook is only connected by wireless (I think that is what it is called).

I just noticed an Optional Windows Update:
Realtex Network Realtek RTL 8102E Family PCI-E. Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

What you will want to do is right-click the Local Area Connection and disable it, because your notebook is the problem PC and it's on wireless right? if it's on wireless, disable the Local Area Connection. Your computer should stop bothering you about network cable unplugged.

ALSO

install the optional update, it might fix your framework issue.
