Is there an OS currently installed on the machine? Would that be Vista? Without any other OS installed yet... does the machine boot up well to Vista (assuming it is Vista)?

I actually did go to the website you had a link to and this does not work. I can't even get the ISO file to boot the computer the way it's suppose to. I get a SATA invalid please try another cd.

And to answer your first questions. Yes, the Dell already had Vista installed on it. But I was able to reformat the drive or at least I though so. Dell has some wierd programming thing in their system that's preventing me from being able to install Windows XP Professional. It crashes every time.

I think you need to partition the drive first as the instructions link I gave you earlier. About GParted.. I am not sure if it can detect SATA drives. May be joeten's link can provide you with another tool to the partitioning.
