I recently updated my Windows Vista Home Prem (last night) And I loaded it up to the password menu and well, knowing Vista the actual desktop takes about an hour to load everything. I input my password and went to bed. I wake up in the morning to find I'm really ill. I stay home from school and I went on the PC to use it of course. I open MSN.... 12 minutes later FINALLY...log in... 23 minutes later... NORMALLY after loading my MSN (auto load) it's almost fully loaded, but after even restarting it and waiting over 4 hours it still continues to cause me problems with freezing.

PC Specs.

AMD Athlon 64 Socket AM 2 Dual core 4600+

OCZ Platinum DDR2 800 2 x 1GB

Sata 320GB HDD (cant remember brand)

ASUS M2R32-MVP motherboard.

Xfi Xtreme Music (Which still doesn't work >.>)

ATI Radeon Saphire X1650 Pro 512mb PCI-E GPU.

If its just the MSN not loading properly, have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling with the newest version-is the version you have vista compatible?

...when you say the desktop takes an hour to load-do you mean that is when you turn your pc on it takes an hour-everytime?

Yeah the whole shibam. Loading Vista itself takes for ever and it's ridiculous 'cause my bro has his running and it only takes him like 4 seconds where it takes me over an hour.

Yeah, there's one by the keyboard PS/2 and mousePS/2 and one by my soundcard but I just installed the drivers so it might be gone other than that there's no others.

Are these problems only with vista?
In other words did you ever have another OS on this system and did it run good?

Nah Vista is the first OS I used on it, my pc is recently built with all brand new parts. When I go into safe mode I still get the yellow by the the mouse Ps/2 and keyboard ps/2 but my SC is good but hen I also got yellow by the Security Processor Loader driver. Would that be a problem?

Does the computer clear post in a normal amout of time?
Does the lag occur after post and when vista starts to load?

Okay, it would explain alot I really wish it would work though I liek the card :/ But it beats waiting an hour. I'll post my results. BTW To get rid of the drivers it's just device manager > r-click > uninstall > shut down > remove card > reboot. Right?

P.s. Cute dog, Doby ^.^

No don't take it to the shop just yet,

When you push the power button writing on the screen comes up, this is when the computer is going thru post (power on self test) after this it then turns contoll over to the operating system, witch in this case is vista.

Can you tell if the system is hanging on the post or if its hanging when vista starts loading.

At this point I would remove all unneccassary usb devices, printers, modems, routers ect. just to see if it loads better.

Report back what happens

Lol Nah the post check thingy runs smoothly. It lags up on Vista start up and there is no un-necessary items. No USB drives or thigns using my USB except my mouse and keyboard. No printer. Only one modem and router which are needed.

Next I would go to the hardrive manufactures website and download there diagnostic tools to check the hardrive. Sometimes even new parts can be bad.

If you have a floppy drive use that version of the tools and boot from it if not download the cd version but this one you have to create a iso image using nero to make the cd bootable

Alright... I think they are seagate :/ Im not too sure though. But there's a flaw there. Because what's the odds of getting 2 defective HDD? Both my 360 AND 120 load windows very slowly.
