I used a registry cleaner in the middle of January and my computer has not been the same ever since. I even installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 (I used to have Vista) and still the same. There are the issues:

  • Almost all my downloads are corrupt: it could be music, or software like winrar and it just wont work. I tried downloading from IE, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, etc and nothing works. This is the error message I get with Winrar:

This is a screenshot of the error with Nero:

  • Another one of the problems I've been having is that a bunch of pictures I see online like in fb or other websites are effed up. At least it's just like 5% of the pics but it's annoying

Someone please help me with this, I tried everything with no results. T_T

I'm thinking this could be a hardware malfunction. By the way I have not installed any new hardware.

Thanks in advance

R U running in 32 or 64 bit mode?

My kid had issues with files from my 32 bit XP box when he tried them on his 64 bit W7 Laptop.

Used to be 32bit with Vista, now it's 64bit with W7. However I had the same problem before I installed W7.

Activate Hidden Admin user account for testing - Hidden Admin Account - sysnative.com - MVP

Use IE to download and save this file to Documents folder - http://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe

The go to Documents & run it. Does it work?

Do you want me to run it with the new account?

It worked (with my normal account) .

Is this it? ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

Yes - see if SysInternals AutoRuns will download successfully using the Admin account, then run AutoRuns.

If it works, the download is not corrupted.

That download worked but almost all the others are corrupted. I'm still having the same issues :S. Another problem that I forgot to mention is that websites have problems loading about 2/20 times so I have to reload them, specially sites like youtube, twitter, issue.com, etc.

Run the Windows 7 Cleaning Manager Utility -
START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | right-click on cmd.exe above under programs | select Run as Administrator | type cleanmgr tuneup in the cmd/DOS screen. Check the following boxes:
Code:
- Temp Setup Files
- Downloaded Program Files
- Temp Internet Files
- Recycle Bin
- System error memory dump files (NOT the next line - minidump files)
- Temp Files
- Temp Windows Installation Files
Also, reset IE - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Sounds to me like its a problem with your internet connection. Have you got another PC/laptop to run tests on the same connection?
