Should I scrap Vista and install 7?
Hello, people.
Can I get a bit of Windows Version advice, please?...
On a Gateway Desktop,
CPU: AMD Opteron 1384
RAM: 6 GB DDR2
Motherboard: Gateway RS780
BIOS Version 7B3P081G, Dated 05/05/2008
Hard drive: 500 GB
I did an F8 System Restore,
so it now has a clean install of Vista Home Premium 64.
I hear... Popular opinion is that Vista sucks.
Should I scrap this OS, and install 7 (or something else) ?
Thanks very much for the advice.

Did you install all service packs? Are you not happy with Vista? I prefer Win7, but I don't know of any overwhelming reason to upgrade

Windows 7 Advisory Make sure your system is compatible for Windows 7, and your system has drivers support for Windows 7. All though there is a lot of more features in Win 7 it is not much different than Windows Vista.

Re: Should I scrap Vista and install 7?
Thanks for the replies, people.
I got this PC used, from a friend.
I've never used Vista before, always XP.
I've started the Vista "Windows Update" for the first time...
it's now downloading 119 updates.
It's just that I've heard many opinions that Vista is Terrible.
Really? You guys haven't heard that before?

Re: Should I scrap Vista and install 7?
There isn't a whole lot of difference between Vista and 7. Microsoft fixed a few things that people didn't like in Vista, but it still comes down to a matter of taste. If Vista is working well for you, then there is no reason to update just yet. By the time Windows 8 comes out, you will probably want to update.

OK, then, people... I'll just keep the Vista, for now.
IF it gives me trouble, THEN I'll make a change.
Thanks Very Much for your time.

Re: Should I scrap Vista and install 7?
I agree Vista is a shoddy OS. full of bloatware. Windows 7 should of been a service pack to Vista though. in my opinion.
If your computer fully supports it driver wise then yes i suggest you move to Windows 7
