My typing skills have declined and I want to us speech recognition, but can't get the machine to listen to the mic. I have a headset that I have used before on a different machine, and have got it to work to the point that I can hear myself in the earphones, but speech recognition can't hear the mic.
I must be missing something in the setup but can't see what..
With the mic attached, go to Control Panel/Sound/Recording tab Highlight your Mic and choose Configure. Click Start Speech Recognition. Go thru each of the steps. If you have a problem, choose Troubleshooting.
I went thru that again, and found that in the "set up microphone", the response is very weak, but in taking the tutorial it seems to work fine, but after the tutorial I cannot get the system to talk to word pad.
I also never get the microphone on the lower right of the screen like it says.............
Go to Control Panel/Ease of Access Center/Start Narrator. Word Pad is a limited word processing program, and it may not work with speech recognition. You may need Microsoft Office/Word.
