I use Vista Home Premium and because my monitor has irretrievably died, I am considering purchasing an old CRT monitor - Iiyama Vision Master Pro 514 - for my photographic work.

Does anyone know whether this old monitor will work with the new OS.

Almost any monitor will work if it can connect to computer.
I'd worry more about what kind of connector the monitor and graphics card have. Here's the two currently used a lot:
VGA: http://www.jestineyong.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/vga2.jpg
DVI: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/d/d5/20071215151216!DVI_Connector.jpg

Some graphics cards may have both like this pic

so you wouldn't have to worry about it.

If you have a DVI graphics card, but the monitor is VGA, you can always get a cheap adapter like one of these:
